
Mentor texts serve an important purpose in providing a guideline for the type of writing that is being taught and that I desire from my students in their composition pieces. For my unit on persuasive writing, I emphasize the importance of the 4 “C”s: a good piece of persuasive writing will be connected to self and will have aspects of creativity, contemplation, and critical thinking.
