Graduate Scholarship
My graduate work at Arizona State University focused on academic empowerment through student-centered literacy.
Connecting an individual’s story and personal identity to literacy creates engaged readers and rhetorically effective writers.
Framing all literacy as emanating from the self encourages self-exploration to find the self, reimagine the self, and express the self.

The Power of Story and Revision in Literacy
We find our story. We write our story. We revise our story.
Revision is the key to any recursive act of writing. Revision is similarly a key in reimagining the self in relation to a text and in written expression.
Revision is the essence of student-centered literacy, allowing you to shape and be shaped.
Pedagogy
My teaching philosophy and the research that supports it is student-centered.
The ability of students to connect to their story is the foundation for being engaging readers and writers.
By connecting to story and identity, a student can express a unique voice and literacy ability to be acknowledged and valued.
